How it all began....
I'm originally from Michigan.
I discovered at a very young age my love of nature and animals. Michigan exposes one to all kinds of animals and insects. From catching fireflies, big green and big brown moths, to one called a "hummingbird moth" (which really flies like a hummingbird). I was exposed to some wonderful learning experiences.
We were always rescuing animals growing up. My dad rescued a crow we named Alfred, a baby robin named Clarence whom was rescued from our cat, and countless rabbits, birds, and squirrels. Many were successfully released back into the wild. One winter my dad even brought home a screech owl which was rehabilitated. In addidion, we always had cats and dogs.
When I moved to Oregon, this trend continued. I managed to catch a Conure Parrot who became part of my family. Once I was given two adult cockatiels who proceeded to have four babies, and of course cats and dogs have always been a part of my family.
For years I 've been asked to take care of peoples' pets no matter what kind they were, as well as house sitting and garden/plant maintenance. Once I had a client who raised Corgi's. They had eight. They also had a bull, many chickens and ducks, a pig, and six goats. I also had to catch feral kittens so they would feel comfortable with people. It was really fun!
When I lived on Sauvie Island I was asked to catch and care for our neighbor's horse. That was a very rewarding experence. In addition to pet sitting, I also have a passion for gardening. I discovered that plants do really well for me so I've included indoor and outdoor plant maintenance as well.
My "motto" is to care for my client's home, animals, and plants as if they were my own. My reward is that I get to meet very interesting clients. Most of all though, I get to experience some very interesting animals with their own unique story to tell. Of course it's an added bonus to be able to care for my clients' plants and flowers. What could be better than that???
